Acclaimed conductor Andreas Ottensamer, the former principal clarinetist of Berlin Philharmonic, National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra (NTSO), and rising star violinist William Wei will offer a fine sample of the ethereal and captivating qualities of symphonic music.
The concert will open with “An American in Paris,” a jazzy symphonic poem by American composer George Gershwin. The energetic rhapsody is inspired by the glamorous atmosphere and jolly street sounds of the French capital.
Wei, an outstanding youth musician who won the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels, will then lead with one of the most prominent violin concertos in history, “Violin Concerto in E Minor, Op. 64” by German composer Felix Mendelssohn.
Ottensamer will conduct the closing act, “Symphony No 3 in C Minor, Op. 78 avec orgue,” a dramatic and memorable organ symphony by the Romantic-era French composer-organist Camille Saint-Saëns.
